Mission
El Movimiento is a grassroots community movement building people power and community defense in Dallas.
We bring together new and longtime activists, neighbors, and local organizations to educate, connect, and take action.
Whether it’s through our community defense teams, political education events like Ideas on Tap, public pressure campaigns, or joyful gatherings, we help people step into activism and collective care.
We use data, research, and community storytelling to expose injustice from ICE collaboration to housing abuses and mobilize Dallas for change.

Objectives
Grow Political Awareness
Host teach-ins, public forums, and digital campaigns that help people understand systemic injustice and how to fight back.
Build Community Defense
Organize and support programs like watch teams and neighborhood safety initiatives that help communities respond from immigration enforcement to police harm.
Expose Injustice with Data and Storytelling
Use research, public records, and community voices to hold landlords, politicians, and systems accountable.
Mobilize Direct Action
Lead and support protests, public campaigns, and collective actions that pressure decision-makers and demand change.
Develop New Activists and Leaders
Provide entry points for first-time activists whether it’s through community defense roles, outreach, or organizing projects.
Amplify Movement Culture
Uplift local photographers, journalists, artists, and small businesses that contribute to a culture of resistance, resilience, and community pride.

ICE WATCH COMMUNITY PROGRAM
We’re creating a volunteer-based, community-led effort to document ICE sightings, raise public awareness, and deter harmful actions against our neighbors in the DFW metroplex.
If you have finished volunteering, access the Ice Watch Map below and look for schools, apartments, or key community spots near you. We are currently prioritizing Home Depots and schools.
Stay alert and watch for plainclothes ICE agents, unmarked vans, or detainments. Submit what you saw: time, location, # of agents, etc by using the Padlet App.
IDEAS ON TAP
Ideas on Tap is a free, public event series where professors, and educators give short, engaging talks in places like bars, cafés, and public spaces. Our goal is to foster thoughtful conversations that inform, challenge, and inspire action.
We’re looking for speakers who can break down big issues in clear, human ways and believe learning should belong to everyone. Ideas on Tap is looking for professors + educators ready to give 20–30-minute talks with real people, real spaces, real impact.
